The mind behind The Accidental Sisterhood®.
Raymond Bologna, M.D. discusses his firsthand experience with the development and success of The Accidental Sisterhood Progressive Plan and to prevent and treat bladder problems like urinary incontinence, overactive bladder and prolapse.
The Sisterhood according to Raymond A. Bologna, M.D.
"Research has shown that pelvic floor therapy works. Pelvic floor exercises (Kegels) can improve bladder problems like urinary frequency, urgency, urge incontinence and stress urinary incontinence. What prevents patients from being successful is identifying the proper muscles and implementing a plan. We have developed solutions for both of these obstacles.
The book describes multiple ways to identify the pelvic floor muscles and the DVD goes into greater detail.
We have described five different pelvic floor exercises that can help
strengthen the basic muscles and the core muscles, which can provide an
added benefit to pelvic floor strengthening.
We know that, with any exercise program, you need a plan. Our plan helps you chart a course to bladder health. By first learning how to do the exercises and then testing your strength, you can develop a personalized plan that can help solve loss of bladder control.
We ask that you cut your number of repetitions in half after you have
tested your baseline strength so that you do not become sore or
uncomfortable. Like any plan, you need to stick to it for success. In
order to help you stick to the plan, we developed the DVD
exercise section. This will keep you motivated to spend 10 minutes a
day with our therapist exercising those muscles you can only feel."
"Dr. Bologna offered me an option that works—with or without surgery or medication."
